Las Vegas Raiders: 3 Baltimore Ravens to Worry About in Week 1

Marlon Humphrey, Cornerback

Marlon Humphrey is easily a top-ten cornerback in the league, and he has been ever since he was drafted in 2017. He a great corner in coverage, finding ways to use his physicality to keep corners from finding to much space. He also has a great peanut punch, as he led the league in 2020 with eight forced fumbles.

Derek Carr will have to look out for Humphrey all game, as Carr tied for the league in fumbles last year with 11. He’ll obviously also has to make sure that he keeps the ball out of Humphrey’s reach.

He won’t just be a challenge for Carr either. The young receivers, Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards will have to find ways to beat him as well. If Humphrey can singlehandedly shut down whichever one of these guys that he is matched up against, then Baltimore’s deep safety can pick up the other potential target without worry.

If Gruden wants to win, then he better draw up plays that benefit his young receivers and his veteran quarterback. And those plays have to either target and expose Humphrey’s vulnerability or avoid him all together.
