Las Vegas Raiders: 3 Baltimore Ravens to Worry About in Week 1

Marquise Brown, Wide Receiver

Originally, it seemed as if Marquise Brown would miss the first game of the season with an apparent hamstring injury. Now though, Baltimore has said that Brown is good to go in the Week 1 matchup against Las Vegas. Before training camp, Brown told reporters that he felt the best that he ever has, and after recovery from his latest injury, Brown will be looking to hit his stride in week one and play with the same type of efficiency that he had in 2020.

In Monday night’s game, Brown will be matched up against the veteran Casey Hayward or the young and developing Trayvon Mullen. Brown will be a test for both of these players, who both have something to prove this season.

Mullen has to solidify that he is the team’s number one option at cornerback, while Hayward has to prove that he belongs on the team and can still play at the same Pro-Bowl level he did years ago.

Covering Brown will be one of the first major challenges for Gus Bradley and defensive backs coach Ron Milus. Last year, the Las Vegas secondary was about as thin as a Kleenex. They allowed about 263 passing yards per game and allowed for 28 passing touchdowns. If Las Vegas hopes to make the playoffs, they’ll have to find ways to limit their opponents air yards. And that begins by slowing down Brown in Week 1.
