3 Las Vegas Raiders to watch against the Steelers in Week 2
Carl Nassib, Defensive End
Carl Nassib will have to play a big role on Sunday, especially if Yannick Ngakoue cannot suit up for the game. But even if Ngakoue miraculously plays, Nassib will see plenty of the field, especially after his clutch play against the Ravens.
If Ngakoue can’t suit up due to a hamstring injury, a rotation of Nassib and Clelin Ferrell will start at defensive end opposite Maxx Crosby. Nassib will surely see the bulk of the snaps over Ferrell, and the highly-priced free-agent acquisition from last season will surely need to be at his best to get a win over the Steelers.
The good in Nassib starting if Ngakoue can’t go is that he finally showed he may be up to the task of being a solid replacement in that case. Also, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is on the decline, and not close to the quarterback he once was and is a complete non-factor in terms of running with the football.
The Raiders will be able to keep up with Roethlisberger as he is strictly a passing threat, and his legs will not be able to get him out of danger like Lamar Jackson on Monday night. Keep an eye on Nassib as he will look to show that his great game in week one was no fluke.
