Raiders vs. Steelers: 4 things we learned in 2021 Week 2

The Raiders have more weapons than just Darren Waller

In week one the primary complaint early on was that the Raiders were forcing the ball to Darren Waller. It made sense in the scheme of the game considering that Baltimore was single covering one of the best players in the league but he did not get the same looks this week.

Waller still made some incredible plays including the game ceiling catch in the fourth quarter but today proved that there are plenty of other weapons for Derek Carr to target. Henry Ruggs was the obvious star of the day with his massive 61-yard touchdown where he torched double coverage and made it all look very easy.

He blew past both defenders with such ease that he almost waltzed into the endzone. Ruggs made a few other plays in the intermediate range and is showing some more versatility as a pass-catcher.

Bryan Edwards also made himself known and had an excellent touchdown catch called back due to a penalty. His role should continue to grow in the offense as he gives Carr a different look on the outside than his smaller counterparts in Renfrow and Ruggs.

Hunter Renfrow continued to do what he does best and that is embarrassing opposing defensive backs. Renfrow made a series of clutch catches and is continuing his campaign to be one of the best slot receivers in the NFL.

Foster Moreau continued his comeback from injury with several big plays including a great touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone. The Raiders feel like they have the best tight end duo in the NFL and today’s performance from Moreau helped back up that claim.
