Las Vegas Raiders: Recapping the AFC West in Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season

The Kansas City Chiefs were the final AFC West team to play on Sunday, battling Lamar Jackson and a Baltimore Ravens team looking to rebound after the loss to the Raiders on Monday night on the road in Baltimore.  At the beginning of the game, it was looking really good for the Chiefs when safety Tyrann Mathieu, who missed last week’s game due to covid, picked off a pass intended for Sammy Watkins and returned it for an early chiefs touchdown.

The teams then started trading points, as both played to their offensive strengths, with the Ravens through the running game, and the Chiefs through the air.  The Ravens run game, led of course by Lamar Jackson, torched the Chiefs defense collecting over 200 yards on the ground, with Jackson accumulating 107 rushing yards. Latavius “tay train” Murray, a familiar face for Raiders fans, added to the fun with 36 yards of his own and a touchdown.

Before this game, Patrick Mahomes was untouchable in September, going 11-0 with 35 touchdowns against zero interceptions. The Ravens changed all of that on Sunday night, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season, and pulling off a huge victory in front of the home fans.

The Chiefs will look to rebound at home against the Chargers after falling to the Baltimore Ravens 36-35.
