Las Vegas Raiders: History tells us Derek Carr will play on Sunday

Carr’s Status for Sunday

As of right now, Gruden said that Carr got an MRI on Monday and is questionable to play on Sunday. But don’t bet on Carr missing time. He was able to push through and return to the game against Pittsburgh. That essentially means he is good enough to take the field in Allegiant Stadium this weekend.

Carr also knows that Las Vegas quarterback depth is thin at the moment. Marcus Mariota, who could’ve finished the game against Pittsburgh or taken snaps against Miami, is on the IR after suffering a quad strain in week one. That leaves Nate Peterman as the team’s sole backup, and no team really wants Peterman to be their starter on game day.

So, expect Carr to be in pads and on the field this weekend. His ankle may be heavily wrapped, but he’ll be there. And while he may lose some maneuverability, don’t expect his playmaking ability to falter whatsoever. He’ll push the pain when he has to because he is the epitome of a Gruden Grinder, and working hard to play football is what he does.
