Raiders at Steelers: Offensive Grades in 2021 Week 2
Quarterback
What else can be said about Derek Carr’s performance that won’t be said all day across the sports shows around the nation? Derek Carr did everything he needed to do and more to get this win on the road against a good defense,.
There’s been a narrative around Carr these past couple of years of people saying he cannot elevate his team and he needs a good line and good weapons to make plays, but what quarterback doesn’t need those? Carr is showing this season he can and will elevate those around him.
The offensive line was already remade and decimated coming into this game, and then they lost Alex Leatherwood in the first half, who is officially questionable heading into Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. He was also missing his lead back in Josh Jacobs and had zero help from the run game.
But Carr played a smart game, taking what the defense gave him, then took the deep shots when available. Carr’s MVP chances jumped the highest of any player in the NFL after the game against the Steelers let’s just hope he can continue this production throughout the season.
