Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders review: Studs and Duds

Studs: Casey Hayward

Casey Hayward was a late free agent addition by the Las Vegas Raiders but so far he has been the most impactful. Hayward had not allowed a reception in the first two games of the season and had two huge pass breakups against Pittsburgh including one in the endzone.

Hayward continued his impactful play in Week 3 and came up with one of the plays of the game against Miami. With the Raiders in desperate need of some momentum after going down 14-0 in the first quarter, Hayward tackled rookie Jaylen Waddle in his own end zone for a safety and helped shift the momentum back to Las Vegas.

The announcers noted that Hayward was not fooled by the play fake and diagnosed the screen pass perfectly. It was a head-scratching play call from Miami that may have been successful if Hayward dropped off but he instead went in for the tackle and got the Raiders’ first defensive score of the season.
