Miami Dolphins at Las Vegas Raiders review: Studs and Duds

Studs: Raiders pass rush and pass defense

The Raiders pass rush once again made their presence felt in this game as they harassed and harried Jacoby Brissett for much of the game. There were a few plays where they could not complete the sack against the massive quarterback, but they had several others that helped swing the game in the Raiders’ favor.

The Raiders were able to record 2 sacks and seven QB hits against Brissett but could have had several more against a smaller quarterback. Perhaps if Tua Tagovailoa was back there the Raiders could have had another three or four sacks.

As for the pass defense, there was a late collapse and that led to Miami making it’s way back into the game for the most part they did their part and held up well against the Dolphins passing attack. They held Brissett to just over 200 yards passing and held him in check until they became gassed late in the game.

In fact, they held him to just over 100 yards until the last drive of regulation and overtime.

Some of the blame for that collapse has to go on the offense as they had two late drives that went three and out when they could have put the game out of reach for the Dolphins with any points on the board. Their inability to run the clock or score when protecting an 8-point lead was a huge factor in the game going to overtime.

The two highlight plays for the pass defense came from Trayvon Mullen and Jonathan Abraham as they both broke up deep passes that could have swung the game in Miami’s favor. There were a lot of plays where Raider DBs required some medical attention so we have to hope that they will be healthy enough for the huge match-up against the LA Chargers on Monday night.
