Las Vegas Raiders vs Miami Dolphins: 2021 Week 3 Offensive Grades

Tight End

Darren Waller is one of the best tight ends in the game, this is a fact. He is by far the best receiver in terms of talent that Derek Carr has in his arsenal. However, he has taken a back seat over the last couple of weeks to the rising young wide receivers on this team.

Which is good news for not only himself, but the team in general. After receiving a staggering 19 targets in Week 1 vs the Baltimore Ravens, the Raiders young receivers have stepped up and taken the pressure off of Waller. The 29-year-old Waller saw his fair share of targets Sunday, and finished with a modest 54 yards on five receptions, it wasn’t spectacular, but facing constant double teams, he more than did his job.

Backup tight end was a non-factor with only one reception for eight yards, and was more known for the interception early on in the contest than his actual play. The tight ends are usually a reliable core of this offense, and overall they were not terrible considering the solid play of Waller.
