What the Las Vegas Raiders rushing attack looks like at full health
Josh Jacobs
Gruden is known to love running the football and selecting Josh Jacobs in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft was proof of that. Jacobs has 2 consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons and a 2019 Pro Bowl selection under his belt, but he has struggled with injuries every season.
Jacobs is slated to return to his position of bell-cow back in Gruden’s system, but will likely relinquish any role in the passing game with the presence of Richard and Drake, despite fans’ yearnings for more targets. Jacobs has proved to be an effective back at times, but for this offense to truly blossom, the Raiders need Jacobs to be healthy, productive, and average above the 4.0 yards per carry he’s been averaging.
The Raiders seem to believe Jacobs is unable to play a full season based on the investment in other running backs that have been made since the drafting of Jacobs. With the over $10 million in cap space dedicated to the running back group this year, they need the group to be more productive.
