Another familiar face for the Raiders here is Mitchell Schwartz, albeit in clearly different circumstances. Schwartz is a former Kansas City Chief, and the former All-Pro selection is technically not a guard.
Injuries have ravaged the athleticism and quite possibly, the ability of the former Super Bowl champion. Despite this being the case, and what also led to the release of Schwartz this offseason, at 32-years-old, he is not too old to call it a career, and he would still be a very serviceable piece to add for a contender, even if he would need to switch positions and possibly play guard.
However, great players can adapt and play all positions, and this would be the case with Schwartz. His familiarity with the AFC West would be huge, and he surely knows a thing or two about the Raiders.
It would not hurt for GM Mike Mayock to at least sniff around Schwartz. A workout should at least be in the cards, to see if he can still contribute, and even if he is a fraction of his former self, it would be a huge improvement over what the Raiders currently have in guards John Simpson and Jermaine Eluemunor.
