After the sudden firing of Jon Gruden, special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia is expected to take over as the interim head coach of the Raiders.

On Monday Night, Jon Gruden resigned from being the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders due to leaked emails where Gruden reportedly used homophobic and racial slurs. With the news coming out, the Raiders are going to have to get to work, and get to work quickly.

The rumor as of now is that special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia will take over as the interim head coach of the Raiders, while Gus Bradley will continue to focus on being the defensive coordinator, and Greg Olson will continue to focus on being the offensive coordinator.

It is common for the special teams coordinator to take the role as an interim head coach when the previous coach is fired or resigns. Bisaccia has coached more than just special teams in his career, working with defensive backs, wide receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks as a college coach at Wayne State, South Carolina, Clemson, and Ole Miss.

Raiders in good hands with Bisaccia

Bisaccia has also served as an assistant head coach from 2008-2010 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as well as with the Chargers in 2012, the Cowboys from 2013-2017, and has been with the Raiders since 2018.

In college, Bisaccia played as a defensive back for Yankton college, so along with that and his coaching experience, he has a lot of experience with football outside of just special teams. With that being said, do not expect Bisaccia to be on the sideline as the play caller, as Coach Olson should be taking over as the offensive play caller, while Coach Bradley will continue as the defensive play caller.

The Raiders are in for a big change after the first quarter of the season, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
