Las Vegas Raiders: 3 Reasons for hope for the rest of 2021

No. 3: Rich Bisaccia as interim HC

Per ESPN’s Suzy Kolber, Rich Bisaccia, the Raiders special teams coach is going to be the team’s interim head coach for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season.

For Raiders fans, this news should instill confidence in the possibility of success for this team for the rest of the current campaign. Bisaccia is a respected football lifer who should have no problem garnering the respect and trust of the Raiders’ locker room.

Many fans expected Gus Bradley to be named the interim head coach, considering his head coaching experience in the NFL, but it is better for the team that Bradley can completely focus on the defensive side of the football. Bisaccia has a sort of unflappable coaching style and is not one to sugarcoat anything with his players.

He has been around the game of football for 40 years, beginning at the collegiate level in 1983. Bisaccia made his NFL debut in 2002, and has been a sought after special teams coach for the twenty years since.

Bisaccia is a great personality to begin to unite this Raiders team as they try to heal and move on from the Gruden saga. If Las Vegas can rally around each other and finish the season strong, Bisaccia will play a major role in accomplishing that.

While Rich Bisaccia is not likely to be a major candidate for the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching position in 2022 and beyond, he is the right man for the job to finish out the 2021 season, and the news of his promotion should encourage fans on the outlook for the current year.
