Las Vegas Raiders vs Chicago Bears: Offensive Grades in 2021 Week 5

Running Back

The Raiders gained 71 rushing yards on Sunday, with only a meager 48 coming from starting running back Josh Jacobs. The painful truth is that this trend may continue with a banged-up offensive line which also has quite a few components that are either no NFL ready or NFL worthy.

The struggles of this offensive line were shown on almost every carry as Jacobs was routinely stuffed at every attempt on Sunday. It is hard to say how much of the burden falls on his shoulders, but numbers do not lie, and Jacobs’s numbers through his third season are awful and will continue to be this way unless this offensive line or himself can remedy this issue.

He was bad on Sunday and honestly, this was his best outing, which is truly saying something. Not to mention the Raiders are paying backup running back Kenyan Drake seven million dollars to be a decoy at this point. With Jon Gruden gone, maybe whoever calls the plays now can help Jacobs get in space, where he can cause damage.
