Las Vegas Raiders: 5 head coaching candidates for 2022

No. 2: Todd Bowles:

We finally have a defensive coach candidate!

Todd Bowles has led one of the best defensive units in the NFL for the past two years since being hired as the defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers run defense has been historically great since Bowles’ arrival, and the trend is continuing this season.

Bowles also produced one of the best game plans in recent memory in this last year’s Super Bowl victory against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The defensive guru’s linebacker-focused defense changed schemes around the entire league and has proven to yield continued success.

The last time that Todd Bowles was a head coach, he led the New York Jets to their only winning season of the last decade, as he was able to secure a ten-win season with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. That feat only becomes more impressive as time goes on.

The Raiders have struggled on the defensive side of the ball for over a decade and would welcome Bowles coming in to finally change that. If he is not already set on succeeding Bruce Arians in Tampa Bay, the Raiders would be doing themselves a disservice by not seriously considering Todd Bowles.
