Cory Littleton

The linebacker has been everything the Raiders were hoping he wouldn’t be when they awarded Littleton with a three-year, $36 million contract just one season ago. After a debut season in which the entire defense struggled, it seemed Littleton would receive a fresh new slate with a new defensive coordinator in Gus Bradley.

Littleton has so far been just as bad this season as a season ago.

The move was lauded at the time and made a ton of sense for a Raiders team that has struggled to find any sort of continuity at any of the linebacker spots within its defense. Across the two seasons in 2018 and 2019, and Littleton was the second-highest graded linebacker according to PFF. Whatever the shift has been since then has been astonishing, as Littleton looks completely out of his element on the field.

A lot can be said for system fits, and this may be the case as Littleton did his best work in a 3-4 system employed by his former team in the Los Angeles Rams. Whatever the case, Littleton is not living even remotely close to what the Raiders paid him last offseason, and he could surely be one of the first moves made at the trade deadline.
