Las Vegas Raiders: 4 potential head coaching candidates

From the College Ranks

Jeff Hafley, Boston College Eagles head coach

This choice is more based on familiarity with current Las Vegas Raiders manager Mike Mayock. Boston College’s head football coach Jeff Hafley has slowly turned around Mayock’s alma mater on the football field, and you have to believe that Mayock has noticed.

This season, the Eagles are 4-1 and are turning the page and are on their way to winning more than seven games in one season for the first time since 2009. He is a darkhorse candidate that can partner with Mayock and build a ‘hard-nosed’ football culture.

Derrick Ansley, Los Angeles Chargers

Last but not least is former Las Vegas Raiders defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley. Ansley is now the Los Angeles Chargers defensive coach and is why Chargers cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. is having a stellar season as a rookie.

He is a brilliant defensive mind that could return to the Raiders in a more prominent role this offseason. This is a coach that many shook their heads when he left the organization a few years back to take the job as defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee.
