Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos: 3 Surprises from Week 6
Play of the offensive line
If you asked anyone what was one of the stories of the season so far, the newly rebuilt and struggling offensive line would’ve been high up on the list. The Raiders have lost the past two games almost solely on the offensive line, not being able to either protect Derek Carr or create any openings for the run game.
However, that was not the case in this one.
Derek Carr was only sacked twice in this game, and the Raiders offensive line didn’t have a back breaking penalty to bring back what would’ve been a big play. They also opened up some nice holes in the running game, with Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake both having their best gains on the ground so far this season.
This is a young and hopefully improving offensive line which has had it’s struggles against a gauntlet of pass rushers and good defensive lines to start the season. Not only did the offensive line do their job against Von Miller, as he only accounted for two tackles, with none of them being sacks, but didn’t allow a sack to any player in the defensive front seven.
That’s pretty impressive considering where we were with this group only a week ago.
