Las Vegas Raiders fill roster holes in early 7-round 2022 NFL mock draft
Marcus Mariota and Nathan Peterman are both set to be free agents, so the search for a backup quarterback will occur this offseason.
Georgia’s JT Daniels won’t blow you away with his physical tools, but he appears to get through his reads well and is highly intelligent from all reports. In the short and intermediate game, he can be relied on to put the ball where it needs to be. So as a backup, he could be relied on to keep the offense moving and on schedule.
The biggest issue with Daniels is his inability to stay on the field. He lost his job at USC after suffering a knee injury that gave way to Kedon Slovis. And he’s struggled with injuries this season for Georgia.
So with no natural elite trait and injury history, he will undoubtedly drop down draft boards, but as a backup, he seems like a good fit.
