Las Vegas Raiders vs Philadelphia Eagles Week 7: Studs and Duds
Studs – Derek Carr
Normally we wait for the last slide to throw some kudos to our fearless leader but in this case, we have to give him the first shout-out. Carr was downright incredible against a decent Philadelphia defense that came into the game with a top-10 passing defense. He started off well and were it not for a fluke interception, seemingly the only ones he throws these days, he would have a perfect performance.
Carr finished the day with an absurd stat line of 323 yards on 31-34 completions with two touchdowns and an interception. His 91.18 completion percentage was the highest of his career and his best since posting a 90.63 against Denver in 2018.
The veteran wasn’t just dinking and dunking it out there as he posted 9.5 yards per attempt and 9.35 air yards per attempt, his second-highest averages this year. There was a point when Carr had 19 straight completions against a Philly defense that had no hopes of stopping him.
The Carr for MVP train was derailed a bit after the losses to the LA Chargers and Chicago Bears but his play in recent weeks has vaulted him back into the conversation. The clear favorites are in some order of Tom Brady, Kyler Murray, and Josh Allen but Carr is bringing up the rear as one of the main reasons the Raiders are winning.
If he keeps up this level of play it will be his best season yet and will show yet again how much he has matured as the leader of this team and improved as a player.
