Raiders’ acquisitions this past offseason have proven to be the difference for the team in 2021.

The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a fantastic 5-2 start after an unprecedented series of events surrounding their former head coach, Jon Gruden. Despite Gruden’s departure, the team has won two straight contests under former special teams coach – now interim head coach Rich Bisaccia.

While Bisaccia has rallied the troops, the Silver and Black’s start to the 2021 season isn’t possible without a few individuals. In fact, while there are holdovers who are certainly having outstanding seasons, like Derek Carr, Darren Waller, and Kolton Miller on offense, as well as Maxx Crosby on defense, their additions have been outstanding.

We have seen every year the team go out and get players who either do not fit or do not live up to their billing. In 2021, it seems general manager Mike Mayock and Gruden found some outstanding pieces to the puzzle, and it could lead to the Raiders finally getting back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

First, we take a look at the additions to the defensive backfield who have been downright outstanding this season.
