3 players the Las Vegas Raiders should trade for at the 2021 deadline
Andre Dillard
Before you question my sanity with this one — this is a low-risk, high reward situation. Another Philadelphia Eagle is on the list and one that is not even a starter. However, the former first-round selection has not lived up to the expectations since he was selected 22nd overall in 2019.
The play of the offensive tackle has not been stellar, and there is a reason he has fallen out of favor with the Eagles, but you never want to give up on a first-round selection so soon, without at least one more roll of the dice. This has been the case for the Raiders with former first-round selection Solomon Thomas, the defensive tackle has revived his career with the Raiders by being one the top defensive lineman in a strong unit.
Dillard was not a top-three selection like Thomas, but he is a former first-rounder as well, so the talent and expectations are there. Maybe like Thomas, Dillard just needs a change of scenery, and with Brandon Parker starting at right tackle for the Silver and Black, we should not pretend he is the long-term solution at tackle.
Dillard is still on a cheaper rookie deal, so the price tag would not be the issue. At 26-year-old, his best years could still be behind him, for a later pick, why not take a risk on Dillard?
Raiders: Here’s what Jon Gruden’s absence could mean going forward
The Las Vegas Raiders have lost their leader, but what will that mean going forward with the season still very much up for grabs?
The Raiders have not had the strongest offensive line this season, so why not bring on the former All-Pac 12 performer? The Raiders would be wise to at least sniff around Dillard, as the Eagles are surely going to be sellers at the NFL deadline.
