Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a car accident Tuesday morning and will be charged with DUI resulting in death.

Just before 4 a.m. PST on Tuesday morning, a two-car collision shut down a stretch of S Rainbow Blvd. between Flamingo Rd. and Tropicana Ave. on the west side of Las Vegas. The crash resulted in both cars catching on fire and a fatality, as detectives from the LVMPD’s Fatal Detail Unit were some that were first on the scene.

Of the two vehicles involved, one was a dark green corvette that is owned by second-year Wide Receiver Henry Ruggs. Ruggs has been coming into his own this season as one of the key focal points to the Raiders’ high-powered offense.

Taken in the 1st Round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Ruggs was brought in to be the next Raiders superstar at the position.

Raiders star will be charged in the accident

As news began to circulate as to the accident, we waited until the confirmation came down from the Las Vegas Police Department. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted this out in regards to Ruggs and his involvement in the accident.

The news is as shocking as it is sad, as it includes a fatality and the effect that will have on so many lives in this crash. Henry Ruggs III was a key part of the Raiders’ future, but now, it remains unclear as to how this will affect his life on and off the football field.

We will continue to monitor this situation as it unfolds, but for now, it appears that Ruggs was the driver of the car, and he will be charged. We send our thoughts and prayers out to all those involved in this horrific crash and will relay any information as we get it.
