The Las Vegas Raiders will head east to take on the New York Giants in Week 9, and here are three things to watch for in the matchup.
Coming off of a crazy bye week for the Las Vegas Raiders, one that saw former first-round pick Henry Ruggs III’s release after a fatal car accident, the Silver and Black will head east to take on the New York Giants. The Giants are a team in disarray right now, as they are dealing with COVID and injuries, but they are also fresh off a strong showing against the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Sunday, these two teams battle it out, and here are three things to keep an eye on in the matchup.
Las Vegas Raiders at New York Giants: 3 things to watch for in Week 9
No Henry Ruggs III
By now, everyone knows that Ruggs has been released by the Raiders after the fatal car crash that killed 23-year old Tina Tintor and her dog. With Ruggs gone, the Raiders added Dillon Stoner to the 53-man roster and will elevate Zay Jones into a starting role, hoping that he can be a deep threat in the same way Ruggs was.
The truth is, Jones should be able to fill in the shoes of Ruggs, and with Darren Waller returning, Carr will have his true No. 1 weapon in the passing game back. The Raiders should actually be fine without Ruggs in the fold, but it will be interesting to see which wide receiver steps up in his absence on Sunday afternoon.
