Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 Draft class mid-season Report Card

Round 7, Pick 230: Jimmy Morrissey, C

You really can’t be too judgmental when it comes to seventh-round picks. The Raiders needed depth at center and addressed that need with the selection of Jimmy Morrissey out of Pittsburgh late.

He was cut before the season started and is currently on the Houston Texans where just last week he saw not only the first action of his young NFL career, but that first action was as a starter. Morrissey gave up zero sacks and was apparently overall solid in his debut despite the rest of the o-line giving up five sacks.

Raiders starting center Andre James looked bad earlier in the season, but has slowly improved as the year goes on, even earning the highest grade of any center in week 9 against the New York Giants posting an 83.1 grade.

How both do for the remainder of the season will be something interesting to follow, though if Morrissey plays better, that would mean the pick itself was good, the decision to cut him was not.
