The Las Vegas Raiders were blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, and the newly-acquired wideout, DeSean Jackson’s debut was a nightmare.
After cutting Henry Ruggs III, the Las Vegas Raiders knew they needed to make a move for a deep threat to take his place. Sure, Zay Jones has the confidence of Derek Carr, and Bryan Edwards has some big-play ability, but the Raiders needed that speedy guy who keeps teams honest, as well as make plays down the field.
When the team went out and signed DeSean Jackson, it brought a lot of joy to the fan base, as this was a player a lot of Raiders fans wanted the team to get a few years ago. Well, Jackson made his debut in the Silver and Black on Sunday night, and with a chance to make a real statement against the Kansas City Chiefs, his big moment turned into a nightmare.
Jackson fumbles away crucial catch in Raiders debut
With the Raiders down 24-14 in the third quarter, it looked like they were going to keep pace with the Chiefs, as Carr took a deep shot to Jackson with under six minutes left in the third. However, although Jackson made the grab, and looked like he would have an easy touchdown, he ran backward and ended up having the ball punched out of his hands.
The Chiefs recovered the fumble, and with it, all the air left Allegiant Stadium. It was one of those plays that completely deflates a team, and any momentum the Silver and Black had to come back in the game was gone.
Las Vegas Raiders have a golden opportunity in Week 10 against Kansas City
The Las Vegas Raiders take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night with a chance to make a real statement in primetime against a division rival.
Honestly, who knows where the Raiders go from here, as they were once 5-2 and headed to the Meadowlands to play a terrible New York Giants team. With Denver and Los Angeles losing earlier Sunday, the stage was set for them to take control in the AFC West, but instead, they dropped their second in a row, and if the season ended tomorrow, they would be on the outside looking in at the playoffs.
