Las Vegas Raiders vs Chiefs 2021 Week 10: Studs and Duds

Studs – Derek Carr

Many fans wanted to lay the blame for this loss at the feet of Derek Carr but there is not much more he could have done in this game before it turned into a laugher. Carr was on target and accurate as usual as he marched the Raiders up and down the field on a few drives until the turning point of the Desean Jackson fumble.

Before that, Carr was nearly perfect as he hit nearly every receiver on the roster and was able to punch in two touchdowns, one in the red zone to Hunter Renfrow and another on a strike to Edwards from 40 yards out. Even the drive where the Jackson fumble occurred was promising as the Raiders looked primed to score and move within 3 points of the Chiefs.

We will get more into what happened after the fumble in the next slide but Carr did all he could to keep the Raiders in the game, even taking big hits in the pocket trying to make plays downfield. He had two ill-advised throws down the middle on what were essentially arm punts with one getting picked off but at that point, the game was already decided.

Carr and this offense are not the same without Henry Ruggs but he will make do with what weapons he has just as he has done over his entire career. There are still 8 games left for the Raiders to play with nothing decided so if we keep getting this version of Derek Carr the team should still be able to compete.
