Start ‘Em

Darren Waller

Disappointment number two on the Raiders fantasy player list is none other than superstar tight end Darren Waller. Waller was talked about as potentially the best tight end going into this season, definitely in the conversation for the top three. Outside of his week one performance against the Ravens, however, he hasn’t contributed much to their offense let alone what was expected.

The Bengals boast a middle-of-the-road defense when it comes to facing tight ends. A lot of that is due in part to their ability to cover them with their safeties, and their ability to get to the quarterback and force the ball out early.

Darren Waller is a different type of human being though. When he and Derek Carr are on the same page and in sync, they’re just as dangerous as anyone in the league. Though the number of targets and receptions is low when it comes to Cincinnati’s defense verse tight ends, the receptions that have been made were close to or within the red zone, many for touchdowns. Look for Carr to target Waller often this game, especially in crucial red-zone situations. If Jacobs can get going early like I highlighted above, it’ll open up plenty of opportunities for Waller to eat.
