5 Las Vegas Raiders veterans who should not be back in 2022
Zay Jones, Wide Receiver
We have heard time and time again about the relationship between Zay Jones and Derek Carr, and how Carr feels he is one of the hardest-working players on the team. For a quarterback to be so high on a player, and for that player to not get any meaningful targets outside of the Week 1 game-winning touchdown, says a lot about his status with the team moving forward.
It is a reality that the Raiders have serious issues at the wide receiver position, as Henry Ruggs III is no longer an option, and DeSean Jackson made a huge mistake in his first game with the franchise. Hunter Renfrow and Bryan Edwards are good, young wide receivers, and guys who will be cornerstones for this franchise, but Jones just is not that guy right now.
Jones is a nice player, and one who has the kind of athletic ability that makes scouts drool, but he has really not accomplished anything in his NFL career so far. Las Vegas needs to cut ties with him this offseason, possibly using a Day 1 or Day 2 pick on a position group that is still looking for answers after so many draft picks and free-agent fliers.
