Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys: 3 bold predictions in Week 12

Bold Prediction 2: Trevon Moehrig gets second career INT

It appears the Raiders have finally addressed their decade-long issue of looking for a competent free safety in Trevion Moehrig. The Raiders selected Moehrig in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Texas Christian University and he is having an outstanding rookie season.

He has shown an ability to protect the back end and cover a large amount of field in a small amount of time. In back-to-back games against the Chiefs and Bengals, Moehrig had a play in which he covered over half the length of the field horizontally for big-play saving PBUs.

Both could have easily been interceptions, and if there is a similar play this week, it could be a takeaway for the Raiders’ defense.

Moehrig is ranked fourth among rookie defensive backs with a 72.8 PFF grade and seems to be improving by the week. If opposing quarterbacks are not careful, his interception total of one on the season could begin growing rapidly.

In addition to Moehrig’s impressive play, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown three interceptions in three games since returning to the lineup from injury. Combining these two factors spells the second interception of the season for the rookie safety on Thanksgiving afternoon.
