Raiders at Cowboys: Defensive Grades for 2021 Week 12

Secondary

When you see 375 passing yards from the opposing quarterback, it is easy to point fingers at the secondary, and in this one, that point was more than justifiable. The top cornerback in this one was Desmond Trufant, but the veteran corner only played 22 snaps.

His excellent coverage play was overshadowed by the horrendous play of cornerbacks Brandon Facyson and Casey Hayward Jr., as both corners allowed over 100 yards apiece in coverage, which was a key factor in the Cowboys being able to throw for almost 400 yards, and this was with starting receivers Ceedee Lamb and Amari Cooper both shelved for the game.

The safety play was not spectacular in this one either but paled in comparison to the lethargic play from the cornerbacks. This secondary unit must do better going forward if this team has any chance of returning to the top of the AFC West.
