3 Reasons the Las Vegas Raiders will make the playoffs in 2021

Reason #2: The AFC playoff race is a mess

The AFC is a mess. This is the first season, in what seems like quite some time, that there is no clear-cut favorite to win the conference. In a season with an extra game and added seventh wild card spot, the Raiders have a prime opportunity to clinch a berth late.

There are five different teams currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the AFC playoff race, that are no more than a game and a half back of the final wild-card spot. Each division leader could very conceivably still be overtaken as well.

With seven weeks to still be played, almost anything is still on the table in the AFC.

The Raiders’ remaining schedule aids them in this department, as well, as their two non-divisional opponents that remain after the upcoming week are competitors for an AFC playoff berth in the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns.

Despite all of the turbulence that the Raiders have seen this season, they have a golden opportunity in front of them. If they win their next two games against Washington and Kansas City, the Raiders will own first place in the AFC West.

All Las Vegas has to do is handle its own business. If they can do that, a playoff berth, whether it be as division champions or a wild card, is absolutely in the cards.
