5 things to blame if the Raiders do not make the playoffs again

Off-the-field incidents

One cannot write the story of the Raiders 2021 NFL season without discussing the incredibly difficult situations off of the field. First came the resignation of Jon Gruden, one that came out of nowhere, and forced the team to go with special teams coach Rich Bisaccia as their interim head coach following back-to-back losses.

Then, after winning two straight under Bisaccia, the Raiders went into their bye week, and that would be the last time we will ever see Henry Ruggs III play professional football again. Ruggs was the driver of a Corvette that crash into a car driven by 23-year old Tina Tintor, killing her at excessive speeds, as Ruggs was allegedly driving drunk at the time.

With Ruggs gone, the Raiders offense faltered, but the team was not done with their issues there, as Ruggs’ first-round companion from the 2020 NFL Draft, Damon Arnette, was cut after threatening to kill people on social media. Overall, this has been a lot for the franchise to overcome, and it is incredible that they still are in a position to possibly make the postseason.
