Raiders: Keys to victory against the WFT in Week 13

Raiders’ offensive line must step up compared to recent weeks

The strength of the Washington Football Team, without a shadow of a doubt, is their defensive line. Despite losing standout edge rusher Chase Young earlier this season due to injury, they are still one of the league’s most dominant fronts.

More specifically, their duo of Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen at defensive tackle will create problems against just about any opponent.

For a Raiders offensive line that allowed an average of fourteen quarterback pressures since their Week 8 bye, they must rectify this situation against Washington. If they do not, the Silver and Black do not stand a chance of winning, nor will the offense be able to get into sync to expose the weaker back end of the WFT’s defense.

If the Raiders abandon the running game, it will play to the WFT’s strength

So it begs the question, aside from becoming collectively better pass protectors – how can Las Vegas take the heat off the Football Team’s relentless pass rush? Case in point, getting running back Josh Jacobs going is the most viable solution.

While the Raiders’ run game has been relatively non-existent for most of the season, it is now December, and if you can’t rush the football now – you will not be in the playoffs later. Too many contending teams have far too many talented pass rushers for any offense to sit back and throw the ball over forty times a game.

Last week versus the Dallas Cowboys, Jacobs rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown, his most productive game of the season when you include his receiving totals as well.

The team possesses a work-horse style back for down the stretch. However, against the WFT, they must utilize Jacobs to the same extent, if not more, to be victorious.
