During the 2021 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders took a swing with Alex Leatherwood in the first round. Seen as a late-first round pick, or even a Day 2 guy, Leatherwood was selected over other prospects who were graded higher, and to say it did not work out would be an understatement.

Leatherwood was given the starting right tackle job right away, and since then, he has been moved inside, where his heavy feet are more suited. That means the Raiders still need a long-term solution at the right tackle position, and in Abraham Lucas, they may be able to find a Day 1 starter in the fourth round.

Mike Mayock has hit some home runs on Day 3 before in guys like Hunter Renfrow and Maxx Crosby, and that has really saved the last few draft class. Lucas is a guy who has played right tackle his entire career at Washington State, so he would not have to move positions, and the Raiders certainly need to figure that spot out.
