Raiders 7-round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Las Vegas goes WR in first
By Brad Weiss
A few years back, the Raiders utilized an early draft pick on an edge rusher from LSU, and that definitely did not work out, as Arden Key was a bust in the Silver and Black. Since being drafted, Key was a very unproductive player for the Raiders, and despite his glee when signing with San Francisco, he has yet to do anything with them either.
With a sixth-round pick in this mock, the Raiders tap the Tigers well once more for an edge rusher, selecting Alie Gaye with pick No. 217 overall. Gaye tore his labrum this season and has been out since the middle of October, but up until that point, he was having himself a very solid senior season.
Las Vegas is set along the edge with starters Maxx Crosby and Yannick Ngakoue, but that does not mean they do not need depth. Clelin Ferrell has not proven to be an adequate edge rusher at the college level, and Carl Nassib is a nice player at times, but Gaye would give them more depth at a position group that is finally trending in the right direction.
