2. The play of Derek Carr

Now let’s talk about the other quarterback in this matchup… Derek Carr. Unfortunately, the eight-year starter has been the polar opposite of Mahomes as of late. He is second in passing yards in the league, but most of this huge chunk of the yardage came from his dazzling displays in the first half of the season.

Taking away his superb play on Thanksgiving, Carr has been terrible since the Week eight bye. He has only thrown five touchdowns over his last five games while throwing four interceptions. This is such a drastic change from his hot start, in a season which it seems farfetched and absurd to say now, but he was once an MVP candidate.

We are never sure which Carr will show up, and although a lot can be said for the coaching changes, also the roster changes at wide receiver mid-season, Carr has played horribly as of late. He is a key player to keep an eye on, as the Raiders will only go as far as their captain will take them.
