5 2022 free agents the Las Vegas Raiders must go after this offseason
No. 4: Carlton Davis, Cornerback
Another key defensive free agent that was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason was Casey Hayward Jr., who emerged as the CB1 for the team in 2021. With Trayvon Mullen battling injuries for much of the season, Gus Bradley has had to rely on Hayward in a big way, and he has not disappointed his former coach with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Looking ahead, the Raiders will still have issues at cornerback, this after Damon Arnette, a former first-round pick, was released during the season. Hayward is a solid player, but he is getting up there in age, and the Silver and Black may want to look for a younger player to come in and start alongside Mullen next season.
That younger player would be Carlton Davis, who would supplant both Mullen and Hayward as the top cornerback on this roster in 2022. Davis returned from a torn quad this past weekend and dominated, showing why he is the player who has the most passes defended in the entire NFL since the 2019 NFL season.
He is an elite player, and the Raiders have to take a shot at bringing him in.
