Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs: Game preview and prediction in Week 14
Game Preview
Unfortunately for the Raiders, and Raider fans, the weeks following the bye week have been a nightmare. The Raiders have lost four of their last five games, and the Kansas City Chiefs are winners of their last five games, including a 41-14 win over the Raiders in Week 10 inside of Allegiant Stadium.
In that first matchup, it wasn’t as far apart as the score made it out to be, even though Derek Carr and the offense started off slow once again, the Raiders went into halftime only down 17-7. When they got the ball back after halftime, Carr hit a wide-open DeSean Jackson streaking down the field with the chance to either score or give the Raiders a first and goal.
But Jackson fumbled it instead, and from that point on, the rout was on. In their Week 10 matchup, the Chiefs targeted safety Johnathan Abram a ton, and that culminated in a 50-yard touchdown reception by running back Darrel Williams over Abram.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Raiders run game was non-existent, with Carr being the team-leading rusher with 18 yards, as Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake both ran for 16 yards apiece. And of course, since this was a loss, this was one of the games that Carr threw for under 300 yards, as he finished the game with 261 yards two touchdowns, and one interception.
The defense struggled to stop the Chiefs offense in the game, allowing the most points during the season with 41, and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce dominated the Raiders defense once again. Mahomes finished the game with 406 yards and five touchdowns. Kelce was the leading receiver of the game collecting eight receptions for 119 yards for a 14.9 average.
