Las Vegas Raiders at Cleveland Browns: 3 Surprises in Week 15
Las Vegas Raiders at Cleveland Browns: 3 Surprises
Big Plays From Johnathan Abram
It’s no secret that Johnathan Abram has struggled this season, especially when he drops back into coverage. But against the Browns, he looked like a different player. He made some fantastic plays for the defense, including two tackles for a loss. One of those was an incredible play where Abram timed the snap and stopped Nick Chubb in the backfield.
What made Abram so successful in this game was that he mostly played as a linebacker, rarely dropping back into coverage. He also played with a lot of control, rather than his usual headhunting that results in missed tackles. Maybe next season, Las Vegas will consider shifting Abram to linebacker completely. They can use this game as an example.
Unfortunately for Abram, he had to leave the game early with an apparent shoulder injury. It caused him to miss the end of the game, and possibly more games going forward if it turns out to be serious. If this was the last performance of the season, then he definitely put on a good show that shows he can still be a playmaker for this team going forward.
