Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 Week 17 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em

Sit ‘Em

Derek Carr

Let’s do a little switcheroo here, and move Carr to the sit ’em roster this week. The quarterback has not looked the same since the Week eight bye. This has been documented over and over, I know. However, the truth sometimes hurts.

The passing game of the Raiders has become stagnant as of late, and now with running back Josh Jacobs possibly breaking out late in the season, the onus will likely be on the running game to pull the Raiders by its unlikely shoe strings into a playoff berth.

Carr should be sat in this one. Although the Colts only possess a middling pass defense, Carr has struggled against nearly every opponent in the second half of this season. If you have the opportunity to sit the captain this week, you need to, it is unlikely he puts up big numbers in this difficult matchup.

Bryan Edwards

Although the second-year receiver was not available in the last week’s game, it probably would not have mattered much if he was.

Although he did provide a much-needed touchdown reception in the Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, especially in fantasy format — he only caught three passes for a meager eight yards and only has three touchdown receptions on the entire season.

The big target in Edwards was expected to make significant strides in his second season in Vegas and started out the season promising, but his second half has looked downright terrible. He has played nothing more of a decoy role as he has fallen out of favor with quarterback Derek Carr.

Nearly every wide receiver outside of Hunter Renfrow has struggled in this passing attack, but Edwards now coming off the COVID-19 list, has been possibly the most disappointing. If you have the receiver on your fantasy roster, sit him and do not look back.
