Raiders: Diving into Derek Carr’s 2021 Week 18 performance
By Sean Basile
The Las Vegas Raiders picked up their fourth straight win in Week 18, and here is our look into the play of quarterback Derek Carr
The Las Vegas Raiders are playoff-bound in 2021-22.
After weathering a tumultuous season marred by controversy, the Raiders are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2016-17, and the second time since they lost the Super Bowl in 2002-03 on the back of a 35-32 thrilling overtime victory over the Chargers this past Sunday night.
Props to this team for battling through despite firing Jon Gruden mid-season for controversial emails, cutting Henry Ruggs III after a DUI arrest and his role in a fatal accident, and also dealing with key injuries to key players like Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs at various points in the year.
But it all came down to Sunday Night Football where Derek Carr and the Raiders were once again on full display.
Carr has now been a quarterback in this league for eight full seasons and has a career record of 57-70 with two playoff appearances- one of which will be this year’s; the other was 2016 when he broke his leg after going 12-3 and obviously had to sit out the playoff game.
He was robbed of the opportunity to show his playoff chops that year, and he arguably lost out on an MVP because of it.
