Several questions now need to be addressed by the Las Vegas Raiders with the offseason here, particularly about quarterback Derek Carr.
Raiders owner Mark Davis will have a lot on his mind these days, and that’s putting it lightly. He has to make decisions that could have a monumental impact on his franchise and either make them perennial playoff contenders or set them back another decade. Deciding if Mike Mayock stays or goes is certainly at the top, but a close second is Derek Carr and a possible extension.
This could certainly be Davis’s call, or it might be a group discussion once the front office situation is cleared up.
Bill Williamson from Silver and Black Pride noted earlier today that the feeling around Raiders HQ is one filled with anxiety. That’s not entirely surprising with so much hanging in the balance for Las Vegas. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the first domino fall within days. After that, Carr’s future will likely take precedence over other roster decisions.
Let’s face it, no other team would likely let their signal-caller play out his final year with no financial incentives after having just led them to the postseason. It wouldn’t make sense unless Carr himself publicly states that he’ll play his last year as originally agreed upon in his contract.
