Raiders Wild Card vs Bengals: 3 studs, 3 duds from the loss

Studs – Derek Carr

Derek Carr was unable to deliver on the final play of the game to send us into overtime but time and time again he was able to keep the Raiders in the game. After an early strip-sack by Trey Hendrickson, Carr was able to settle in and began dicing up the Bengals’ offense.

He was a DeSean Jackson drop and a doink off a Cinci helmet from throwing 3 touchdowns instead of 1 but was able to direct traffic and move up and down the field with relative ease against a solid defense. Carr distributed the ball well, hitting 7 different receivers, and his numbers would have looked even better were it not for the drops and a terrible referee decision to wipe away a dime to Hunter Renfrow.

Carr has shown that he can get the Raiders to the playoffs as he is the only QB to do so for this team in 20 years and has shown that he can lead a team through unprecedented adversity. He made some incredible throws to keep the Raiders alive in the second half and deserves another chance to lead the Raiders.

He is technically under contract for one more year as of now but both he and the Raiders have some decisions to make this offseason as to his long-term future. If that was his last game in Silver and Black then we can say with confidence that he gave it his all and left it all on the field, even in bitter defeat.
