2022 NFL Draft: Early targets for Raiders No. 22 overall pick

Minnesota’s Daniel Faalele would instantly boost the Raiders’ right tackle position.

Brandon Parker is not a long-term starter at right tackle. In addition, 2021 first-round pick Alex Leatherwood is simply not cut out for the position as well. The Las Vegas Raiders must select an offensive lineman that is proven and effective at their position.

Enter Minnesota Golden Gophers mammoth Daniel Faalele who has started 31 collegiate career contests at RT. The 6-8, 380 pound Australian Native is a force to be reckoned with. His physical presence alone is imposing, and more importantly, he is one of college football’s most dominant run blockers.

While his run blocking is imposing, he also projects favorably as a pass protector despite his size.

It happens all too often in the NFL; behemoth offensive tackles don’t pan out because they have either poor footwork or improper technique due to winning with their size at the collegiate level. Daniel Faalele is a different story.

He also possesses incredible length, showcased at both the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. He also has surprising athleticism, and simply put, he is more than capable of being an effective pass protector. He could very well be what Trent Brown (when healthy) was for the Raiders, if not more. If they choose not to address the OL in the first round, someone along the defensive line would be equally as imposing.
