Should Raiders fill the right tackle void with Chiefs Orlando Brown Jr.?

Brown instantly upgrades the Raiders’ offensive line from 2021.

Comparing Brown to Leatherwood and Parker would be short-sighted, mostly due to Leatherwood’s being a rookie, and Parker’s has been a serviceable backup at best. However, in hindsight, it just shows how much you need an upgrade for the Raiders.

For example, Parker and Leatherwood surrendered 16 sacks last season, while Brown gave up just four in 16 regular season starts. Per PFF, Brown would instantly upgrade a team’s pass blocking as he sports a 75.9 grade for 2021. Brown is a disciplined lineman; he has only seven penalties counted against him in the regular season. By comparison, Leatherwood and Parker were penalized a total of 23 times.

The regression and lack of discipline at the right tackle spot should certainly be concerning for whomever the new Raiders general manager will be. Brown would be an upgrade and of many routes that the Silver and Black could go come March.
