5 Important Raiders who most likely will not be back in Las Vegas in 2022

Marcus Mariota, QB

We will start off with the biggest name on this list, and that is coveted backup quarterback Marcus Mariota. Back in the 2020 NFL season, Mariota stepped in for an injured Derek Carr against Los Angeles late in the season and became a player that many members of Raider Nation clamored for over the past two seasons when Carr struggled.

The truth is, Mariota was only a gadget player for the Raiders, and while the backup quarterback is the favorite player of the fans, he was never really challenging Carr for playing time. Mariota, though, is a player who is going to try and earn a starting job elsewhere, as he is still very young, so the likelihood of another go-around in Las Vegas is very slim.

During his short time with Vegas, Mariota showed he could still deliver the ball with some accuracy, and certainly has more tread on the tires in terms of him running the ball. He is going to get a look somewhere this offseason, as the quarterback position is very thin across the league, leaving the Raiders looking for someone to back up No. 4 in 2022.
