Las Vegas Raiders swinging a deal for Michael Gallup could work

Is Gallup worth the risk?

The short answer to that question is yes. Despite Gallup’s injury in 2021, he’s more than worth the risk of a long-term contract. The question is whether the Cowboys will move on from him. There are rumblings regarding Amari Cooper and his future in Dallas. Ironically enough, Raiders fans are having a field day with that considering his past with the Silver and Black.

Gallup is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. His previous deal with the Cowboys was worth a little more than $3.5 million, with a signing bonus of less than $1 million, per Spotrac. Obviously, he’ll be looking for a much more sizeable investment from Cowboys owner Jerry Owner.

If Jones decides that his offense is going in a different direction with CeeDee Lamb and Cedrick Wilson Jr., Gallup suddenly becomes expendable.

When we consider the obvious need at the position for the Raiders, signing Gallup to a large deal is warranted, especially given the improbability of landing Adams or Allen Robinson. Gallup might end up being the most realistic option this offseason.
