The Case for Trading Carr

There are going to be a lot of teams looking for a new quarterback. Some that immediately come to mind are the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints, who both don’t have an answer for their quarterback positions after their former franchise quarterbacks retired. Also, teams like the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns could be in the mix for a quarterback, as Carson Wentz and Baker Mayfield both underperformed this season.

All four of those teams may be willing to move on from some picks or pieces to get Carr.

Parting ways with Carr via trade could also benefit Las Vegas’ future. If Las Vegas and their next general manager wish to build draft capital to address holes in the roster, then they may feel that it’s best to send Carr to one of those quarterback-needy teams. Especially if someone is willing to part ways with multiple first-round picks.

Trading Carr could also clear up cap space for the future, allowing Las Vegas to bring in more free agents and retain franchise cornerstones like Maxx Crosby and Darren Waller. That may be the goal of Las Vegas’ future general manager, who may want to rebuild the team to match his own desires. The same is true if Las Vegas decides to bring in a new coach, who may want to get a quarterback that better fits their system.
